America as the Third World?

Yesterday William Easterly wrote on his blog about the American Human Development Project. The Project is trying to create metrics using factors besides GDP to determine the state of development in the United States. They have already created an American Human Development Index as an alternative measure.

Mrs. Kane's presentation about health in the United States made me think about this map. I'd be interested to know what others thought about these metrics.

  1. DMoney this is awesome! Wow, tons of research/programming going into this, I feel like Pat would find this really cool! (Slash many people, of course).

I'd like to know exactly what formulas were used and what all the sources of info were.

  2. Hi there,
I recently read your old blog "Real Life: bring it on." I was wondering if there's a way I could come in contact with the person who had undergone the sesamoiditis surgery? That person wrote great things about the surgeon and since I am currently looking for a sesamoid specialist I would love to know the doctor's name. Desperate for a good recommendation.

    Thank you!

    1. Hey there! It was McGuigan at Georgetown Hospital. He's in their foot and ankle center. I'd love to talk through my own experience if it would be helpful to you at all!

It was a really tough time in my life. I am fully recovered now - went to a bootcamp tonight and did a night run last night!

Seriously hit me up for any details - I know I could have used the voice of someone who'd been through it. We can exchange emails/numbers if you want to talk more.

Best of luck either way and stay strong,

      Katie

  3. I would absolutely love to talk to somebody who's gone through it. I have it in both feet, and honestly it's tough keeping it together. And I've gotten two different diagnoses at these point... great haha.
I am so so glad to hear you fully recovered. It's both great for you, and inspiring for me.
Here is my email: prianikova@gmail.com and I'm looking forward to hearing from you!!
